Singapore's Fort Canning
Formerly known as Fort Canning, it changed it's name to Fort Canning Park.

 A little early history :

Before Fort Canning was known as what it's name was now, previously it was Bukit Larangan.

What does it mean?

Forbidden Hill

The word Bukit Larangan was derived from the Malay language. It was forbidden as many locals before Singapore was founded. The locals believed that the hill was the site of palaces of their ancestral kings.

Fort Canning park was also the first residence of the founder of Singapore, Sir Stamford Raffles. It was also the headquarters of the Singapore Base District, one of the areas defending Singapore when the Japanese invaded.

Now?

Now Fort Canning is a park for visitors to understand the long history behind Fort Canning.

The special mix of relics of history, nice greenery and big lawns had Fort Canning become a centre of activity for arts and culture.

Also, being a previous area of outdoor events and activities, you can see why Fort Canning is such a popular area, just by its scenery and environment.

Here are some nice places you could visit :

Fort Canning Centre

Battle Box

Don't worry they're not real people. Just really advanced robots who act like human.

Raffles House
